Chattahoochee Nature Center Master Plan
Enhancing an educational oasis along the Chattahoochee River
Houser Walker Architecture and the Chattahoochee Nature Center worked together to comprehensively evaluate all campus improvements and identify needed new spaces and features. The primary goals for the master plan effort were to address several identified campus deficiencies while creating an exciting new vision that would enable the CNC to better serve its mission of connecting people with nature.
Since the campus includes more than 100 feet of vertical grade change and is divided by a primary public road, improvements to campus circulation were identified as a significant opportunity. The project reconsidered how visitors arrived, were ticketed, and moved through the campus. The clarifications to the campus circulation will make wayfinding and ticketing more intuitive for visitors and controllable for staff.

“I wanted you to know how much we appreciate and value the job you, Amy, and your team did in designing and producing the amazing master plan for the Chattahoochee Nature Center. We’ve received so many compliments about the plan that I have lost count, but the last one came this past Monday when we hosted a visit for the Woodruff Foundation. They were very excited about the vision you (Houser Walker Architecture) helped create. Thank you so much for the partnership and I look forward to working with you and your team again soon.”
