Common Pond Development

All homes were designed to maximize locally standard construction techniques. Locally sourced and produced materials were used throughout. Five different house types were designed for the sixteen sites in the development. A primary design approach was to maximize the site’s “free” attributes: daylight, ventilation, and stunning vistas.

Ansley Green Condominiums

The Ansley Green development represents HWA’s latest foray into providing a full complement of project services aimed at enhancing the overall look and profile for high visibility commissions. At Ansley Green, HWA managed the design process, pre-development services including pro-forma generation, land acquisition, and all feasibility studies. We also provided graphic identity packages, website design, and a single source contact for prospective buyers.

Ansley Green is a new 6 unit luxury condominium to be located in the heart of Midtown, along the edge of Ansley Park and directly across from Piedmont Park. Each unit, at 2 bedrooms, is ideally positioned to take advantage of the available vistas, sunlight, and participation in the surrounding neighborhood. A common exterior terrace, boasting skyline views, tops off the complex.

BiG Residence

A glazed hallway, revealing the life of the home within and providing light deep into the new addition, weaves together both sections of the house. Complementary textures - rough stone and smooth stucco; horizontal brick and vertical cypress boards, transparent and opaque glazing, etc. – provides a variety of kinesthetic experiences without resorting to mimicry of the original structure.

BiG Residence

The title ‘BiG House’ not only refers to the owner’s initials, but also alludes to one of the primary goals for the house - making a case for densifying and rebuilding existing neighborhoods without needing to resort to bombastic “McMansions” or other bloated domestic strategies.

BiG Residence

Our design for this residence marries a new, ‘lofty’ master suite and terraces to the rear of an existing 1920s brick bungalow. Renovations include a new kitchen, family room, and stair to existing attic rooms. Formally, the addition is comprised of interlocked volumes shifting and slipping away from the existing structure, forming a new courtyard bridging the old and new faces of the house.

HWA was retained to renovate and add onto an existing 2,000 sf, U-shaped courtyard home from 1950, located on a large, tree filled lot. The expanded program included additional spaces for sleep-ing, bathing, and working. HWA also developed a long term master plan, including landscaping, for the entire property. Our proposal includes a set of renovations and additions which will be executed in two phases over a period of two years, as the young family grows.

Sandersville Residence

The design scheme for this three story residence focused on controlling the scale and orientation of the home to allow for maximum privacy and views. Situated on a moderately sloping site, the scale of the home on the southern, street facing sides is minimized through terracing roof shapes and covered porches, recalling the owner's fond memories of a childhood bungalow.
