As the former AVP for Capital Planning & Space Management and Institute Architect at Georgia Tech, Howard is a recognized leader in campus design with specific expertise in sustainable campus planning and urban development through the holistic integration of architecture, landscape, engineering, technology, ecology, sustainability, operations, maintenance, and fiscal stewardship.
Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Howard spent 21 years at Lord, Aeck, & Sargent where he was a Partner and Principal focused on technically sophisticated, sustainably designed college and university facilities. After Georgia Tech, Howard served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Piedmont Park Conservancy, a non-profit working in the 200-acre Olmsted-inspired public park. In 2022, Howard provided temporary leadership at Vanderbilt University serving as the Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management.
Howard is a committed educator, mentor, and life-long learner. He speaks frequently with students and at national conferences, willingly sharing his insight and expertise.
